Music Engagement

I began working with people with special abilities over a decade ago with a group called “Circle of Friends” in Napanee.

The past 8 years I first worked with Music Mates and when that program shut down, my wife and I created our own Non-Profit called “Let’s Make Music Kingston”. The focus of this organization is to bring music to a variety of groups but focussed primarily on people with Special Abilities.

Seeing and hearing people then responding with music as the bond that changes a persons routine and elevates their physical and mental abilities. The use of percussion instruments such as shakers and tambourines, allows physical connection to music. Singing or vocalizing is an energy that resonates with someone throughout their day.

The Client Base I work with is varied in Age and size of group.

One-On-One Programming

I work one on one with clients to develop an effective way to enrich their lives through using live music and the tools that each individual responds best to. The age of client ranges from 8 years old to 80 years old and every program is unique!

Small Group Programming

I sometimes work with small groups of 2 or 3 individuals who have a common interest. These sessions can be focussed on music or sometimes creating music together. We use instruments and movement to engage the participants.

Medium and Large Groups

We work with lots of different organizations to do larger group activities. These programs usually have from 8-15 participants and can be very lively with lots of musical interests being introduced, instruments and rhythm being introduced as well as action songs!

Groups we work with include: Ongwanada Kingston, Community Living Kingston, New Leaf Link Harrowsmith and Rideaucrest Intergenerational Program. As well, Let’s Make Music runs a Teen and Adult Evening once a week.
